We are calling on runners and walkers to join us for the annual Beer & Bubbles 5km event – an evening designed to bring the community together in support of mental health awareness.
Taking place on Thursday 19th June, the charity run and walk will be set in the picturesque Finnebrogue Woods, Downpatrick, with all proceeds going to local mental health charity Suicide Down to Zero.
With registration opening at 5.30pm, the 5km walk begins at 6.15pm, followed by the race at 7.00pm. Whether you’re chasing a new personal best or enjoying a scenic stroll with friends, participants will have a unique opportunity to explore Finnebrogue’s private trails, capped off with a celebratory drink – beer, bubbles, or a soft drink alternative – at the lakeside finish.

Nestled on the outskirts of Downpatrick, the 5km event gives participants exclusive access to Finnebrogue Woods, with the route mapped out so participants take in the stunning woodland and finish close to the lakeside. Ed Lindsay, owner of Finnebrogue Woods, comments:
“It’s great to welcome back the M.B. McGrady & Co. 5km for the fifth year, taking place in the heart of Finnebrogue Woods, and raising funds for a great charity. The event in 2024 was a real success and gave runners and walkers a unique opportunity to explore parts of our estate not open to the general public. Runners, walkers and faces new and old, we look forward to welcoming them to Finnebrogue Woods in June.”
Funds raised will go directly to Suicide Down to Zero, a charity committed to preventing suicide through community education, outreach, and support for those in need.

Open to all ages and experience levels, the event is a great summer evening outing for individuals, families, and local businesses. Participation costs £20 with proceeds being donated to Suicide Down to Zero. Children under 16 are free to attend.
